All a load of BS...........
There should be no reason to raise tax if government can control their spending and not build expensive projects like jewel and gardens by the bay and million dollar rubbish bin.

In the very first place, government is top heavy. A lot of fats need to be trimmed at the top. Many created positions for own kakis. All these cost taxpayers money. Singapore is only a small country but they make the whole administration until so complicated.

Yes our govt. must ensure that all projects are properly carried out and closely monitored. The amount of money spent on the many PAP ministers and mayors takes a big bite into our annual budget. If only they(MIW) are able to reduce the number of PAP ministers and mayors and it's highest pay packet of those of other world leaders will we be able to trim the remunerations of it's officers.  If these measures are carried out, then we don't need to increase the GST to 9%...........

The problem is there is no check and balance in the parliament. Pap is too powerful and has absolute power.

Who can do a government restructuring to right size the government and reduce wastage? Everything is own self approved.
Pap operated in a monopolistic manner. As with market structure, a monopoly political party enjoys monopoly power, supersized profit. There is no anti competition law for political parties unlike companies.

PAP = profit above people

Cut the 5 mayors as they are all redundant. Then reduce pay of ministers and MPs. Like that no need to increase GST for many years.

Cut 50% of all minister and profit above people mp pay also
Maybe govt should institute a one-time cost-cutting exercise. Every ministry must find some way to cut 5% of cost. Retrench or cut pay if necessary. Very common in private sector, so public sector can do the same thing instead of taking the easy way out by raising taxes.

Agree. Cut the fats in all ministries. Reevaluate all mega projects. All private companies do it when market is bad. But government just forced more revenue thru taxes.

This is one good way to use taxpayers money efficiently and avoid need to keep raising GST or other regressive taxes. It will good for the people.
PAP has a big bunch of expensive monkeys.

Over- pay them but no solutions and no alternatives to problems.

They are worse than my executives in the office.
