He is the first pro-US president, he wants Ukraine to be part of NATO, which threatens to Russia and angered Putin.

During the Cold War there were NATO led by the US and Warsaw Pact countries led by Soviet Union.





However after the collapse of Soviet Union in 1990, Warsaw Pact closed down but NATO continues and expands eastwards towards Russia, most of the former Warsaw Pact nations joined NATO.

Most of the countries in the old Warsaw pack decided to join EU and NATO as they don't see a bright future going under the influence if Russian.

Why didn’t the US close down NATO after the Cold War? Strategically it wants to threaten to Russia and that’s why Putin dislikes it and wants to stop Ukraine joining NATO.

Unlike other Eastern Europeans, people from Ukraine and Belarus are the same race as Russians.

Sigh that president have use as a prawn for Nato and US

NATO expansion is to suppress the rise of Russia and stop it becoming another superpower to challenge the mighty US.
