Opposition's claims that the GST hike disproportionately hurts the poor are misguided, says Finance Minister Lawrence Wong.
Read key points from his Budget round-up speech:

He is trying to say GST is to help the poor.
He also saying may have to increase GST to 11%
Enhanced GST Voucher Scheme is using 2021 as denominator!
Not the constantly changing inflation rates, lah.
Please stop being stupid.
Either print or get from us….
Which option you want?

It may be true that GST is to help the poor, cos the big ticket items are brought by the rich and thence they are paying higher taxes......

You are back?
Without the GST vouchers, it is definitely worse off for the poor. No questions.
But with the GST vouchers, it will hit the rich more, at least according to ah wong . Must look at the details though.
So he is telling us without GST we may not have the means to help the poor. So where does our money gone to over these decades?
Mind you ,taxes collection is a continuity not a one time off!
Why do we need a Gov always inflating our cost of living and not the standard of living?
In the private sector, when companies make losses, they cut costs and retrench.
In SG govt, they raise taxes instead of examining what costs can be cut.
the so called enhanced GST Voucher scheme is valid only for a very limited period.
so after that, how.? eat grass leow.
are they going to stop collecting GST after they stop the enhanced GST Voucher?
miw like to play the same kind of game, over and over again, be it public transport fare increase - water hike -
insurance scheme.... and so on.
