Xinjiang had riots and ethnic group at some point fought with violence...

China is ruled by CCP and takes extreme actions when violence occur.

What China did is told by Uyghurs and UN conducted an investigation into the evidence .

While a lot of information may be inaccurate or exaggerated, China has interned a large number into large scale facilities. This in itself is not denied by China who says it is helping to retrain them and they entered these facilities voluntarily.

So long as people are not free to talk and investigative journalist do not have a free hand to investigate. Whatever the Chinese govt does they can always deny....no matter what the evidence show.

Pro China fanboys will never accept any evidence no matter how solid or credible. So there is no point to keep show evidence.

The main problem is the ability of China govt to keep information from scrutiny. This allows them to engage in potential cover ups and it is not easy to for journalists to investigate.

These days infowar warfare is used to constantly pollute the media with propaganda.

This is often effective but dangerous. Russia media control is so effective most of the population think its just a small operation in Ukraine not an invasion. Such media propaganda allows dictators to carry out terrible acts without the citizens opposing.
