In fact, it has been revealed by the Manpower Ministry that of the 177,000 foreign EP holders Singapore currently has, 25 percent are Indian nationals. The ministry did not reveal the breakdown for foreign S Pass holders.

“We will deal robustly with these problems. If we don’t, resentments will grow, and there will be fertile ground for far-right populist politics to gather strength,” Ong said. “We are determined to never let such politics take root here.”
First of all this guy shouldn't be there. Has been voted out a few times. Thicked skin until parachuted. Now yayapaua. Serve us right.

This one is a total failure. Strength has already gathered when LMW spoke in parliament.

Once you use despicable ways to accomplish your agenda, its no difference with those hypocrites. Vicious wolves disguised as harmless but true self will surface once they cant accept the result they wish for .
Vote them out.
Out them we vote.
"Singapore continues to value foreign contributions, he said. That means Singapore will continue to “complement” the local workforce with foreign talent, expand its network of free trade agreements (FTAs) and welcome foreign investments".

Since you are Leftist and allow EP without levies nor quota, then it clearly means that FTs do not compliment, but replace.  The Employment Pass says it all.

Please do not lie through your teeth like Tan SL.
Quote:He said, “In Singapore, there have been attempts to use free trade agreements… to whip up anti-foreigner sentiments and seed xenophobia in our society.”

OYK is a very dangerous person. There's only a minority of people who are xenophobic while most of us welcome foreigners here. But there's a limit to how much this land can accommodate, esp. when they let in so many in so short a time.

Instead of apologising for their lack of foresight, they have now accused us of whipping up anti-foreigner sentiments!

Vote to get them out!
Quote:Right-wing populism, also called national populism and right-wing nationalism, is a political ideology which combines right-wing politics and populist rhetoric and themes. The rhetoric often consists of anti-elitist sentiments, opposition to the Establishment, and speaking to the "common people".

Basically any anti PAP sentiment can be Labelled far right populism as PAP is the elite establishment.
Elite now at float. Celebrating themselves.
Appealing to common people - is far left.

OYK do not know what he is talking about.

Ex minister of education, transport, health and everything else is talking like the clown Donald Trump.
This foreign import issue is very simple but PAP ignores the unemployed Singaporeans' problem.
No Singaporean will object to import of foreign talents when all unemployed PMETs can find jobs.

Can PAP ensure jobs for all unemployed PMETs before PAP imports foreign PMETs ?

If PAP cannot find enough jobs for unemployed PMETs, why PAP imports foreign PMETs to take over the current vacant jobs ?

Why PAP has to give away local jobs to foreign PMETs when local PMETs cannot find jobs ?

How can Singaporeans support foreign PMETs when local PMETs cannot find jobs ?

It does not make any sense to support foreign PMETs.

If PAP wants to import foreign PMETs, PAP must work hard to create excess jobs for them.
PAP must not take existing limited jobs from local PMETs and give to foreign PMETs.

For example, if PAP has 10 Singaporeans and 10 houses.
if PAP invites 5 foreign PMETs to live in 5 houses, 5 Singaporean PMETs will be homeless.

PAP must build 15 houses so that 10 Singaporeans and 5 foreigners can co-exist in harmony.

How can 10 Singaporeans support 5 foreigners when there are only 10 houses ?
There is nothing wrong with Foreign Investments but how come it ended so extreme?

It is common sense, that local PMETs cannot find jobs, and that we need to support foreign PMETs...

Your logic won't win the argument. Pap will tell you that without the foreigners you won't even have the 10 houses.

It means we do not need PAP, we just need foreigners.
We can vote out PAP and any new govt will just need foreigners to build houses.

What is called foreigners, is it those who are professional or those who are manual workers.....?
Far right populism in Singapore? OYK haven't see the far right populism movement in Europe..

What he see now in Singapore is nowhere near the standard of Europe, but if he keep saying it, he might see it sooner than he thinks.

That Ah Shame even a more dangerous one.  This one started a big fire stirring racism on every corner.
Having been in civil service all his life, OYK is very good at playing politics. He knew this is what LHL likes to hear, so he's allowing himself to be made a bogeyman to carry out the unpleasant but rewarding task of representing the govt to voice out on this issue.

He knew that all our voices don't really affect his chance of becoming PM, unless we are going to vote him out. However, he's in a very safe GRC so he knows this is not going to happen.

I have been tracking him since he's the CE of WDA, and found that he's full of words but little action.
Hahaha ..Good lah

If you are rich, I think everyone don't mind sharing some food with a poor neighbor. But when you are poor and hungry, and your neighbor is competing with you for the last loaf of bread on the shelf, of coz you humtam your neighbor so that you get the bread and your family won't go hungry..

For OYK to say "We are determined not to let far right populism take hold ", only mean that he is never poor and hungry before, and had to fight for that last piece of bread with someone else..

Quoting from a Stephen Chow movie:

Emperor: You have millions of beggars in your beggar clan. I am worried with such a formidable force will be a threat to me..

Beggar clan leader: Emperor, how many members I have in my beggar clan is not determined by me, but by you. If you bring peace and prosperity to the country and everyone has a job, who want to be a beggar!

If govt or OYK is able to address all the pain points highlighted by the so called far right populism folks, who want to be a far right populism? I am sure everyone want to be a nice person who shared food with poor neighbor.

And PAP will act victimize and call us xenophobic again.

They sow the discord and we will be blamed.
