Russia has compiled lists of about 40,000 Syrian soldiers and allied militarized groups it intends to involve in the war against Ukraine . This was announced on Tuesday, March 15, at the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
According to the organization, as well as the AFP news agency, which cites Syrian activists on the ground, Russian officers have opened registration centers for such mercenaries in areas controlled by the regime of Bashar al-Assad, which has allied relations with Russia. "So far, more than 40,000 Syrians have registered to fight with Russia in Ukraine," said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the monitoring center.
