I see his style of writing I already know this guy talk cock more than do actual work.

One thing he's right, the industry never thinks the academia can produce anything. Many are theoretical while others just want to make a superficial prototype. It is worse so in Singapore than other countries.
His area of study (design anthropology) is very "soft". If he has technical hard skills, the transition would be easier.

In Singapore, must have PaP connections to compliment a doctorate/ PHD . By itself, is worthless and leads nowhere unless get a job in other countries.
With Pap connections, even if your highest level is psle, your future looks brighter than a degree holder
