In Mariupol, the besieged port city in southern Ukraine, Russian ships have been shelling from the sea for the first time, the official said. The shelling appears to be a sign that Russia continues to struggle on the ground against Ukrainian forces. Russian commanders instead are relying on long-range bombardment to take the cities, a tactic that often results in civilian casualties.

Russia continues to have problems supplying its troops in Ukraine with food, fuel and weaponry, the official said. Some soldiers have suffered frostbite because they don’t have proper cold-weather gear. There are signs Russia is having trouble keeping ships fueled at sea, the official said.
If its true Russia lost 10%, not so difficult to figure out Ukrainian losses. At least 50%

Russia started out with 150,000 man.

Ukraine had 300,000 man comprised of 200,000 main forces & 100,000 territorial defense forces + SBU units.

Whats left of the Ukrainians in the Eastern frontlines is about 60,000 main forces in hardened underground fortifications. Territorial defences mostly surrendered. In Mariupol, 7000 Azov remaining. Odessa, Kyiv possibly 50,000.

The defensive forces around Kyiv are drawn from strategic reserves taken from other parts of the country, leaving them unprotected.

Essentially, the dwindling Ukrainian army is fully retreated to main cities in a desperate attempt to preserve them from falling.

Thats the purpose of Foreign Legion - badly needed reinforcements. But their training bases are being struck by Russian precision missiles one by one.

The shelling from the sea means that Russian forces are free to bombard Azov fighters as thousands of civilian hostage were freed

I dont agree Russia have trouble resupplying. On the contrary, they took over the port of Berdyansk last week when Ukrainian Navy fled. This port is just a stone throw from Mariupol, allowing them much quicker resupplying via the sea.
