War is raging in our neighbor, Ukraine. In this situation, Hungary must follow four main rules, wrote Judit Varga, Minister of Justice, for the video shared on the community page.

There are four principles that we strongly advocate in Brussels:

Our country must stay out of the war.
We are part of the unity of the Union and the pursuit of peace.
The issue of energy cannot be turned into an ideological debate, which is why we are opposed to any sanctions that jeopardize the energy supply of Hungarian and European households.
We are at the forefront of humanitarian aid: we are receiving and caring for our compatriots in Transcarpathia and those fleeing Ukraine.

The Minister of Justice said that the refugees from the war in Ukraine and the economic effects of the conflict and sanctions are placing a heavy burden on Hungary. He stated that the effects of the war on the front countries should not be allowed to be taken into account by the European Commission. Therefore, it is necessary to approve the Hungarian program enabling the mobilization of EU funds as soon as possible, Judit Varga emphasized.

There is also a need for flexibility in the use of the fund, as EU money must also allow it to be used to receive refugees, Judit Varga added.
