Since we are not paid at market rate salary to do NS Service, then we have the full right not to defend foreigners. Let the foreigners fend for themselves and their own families.

What Sinkie guys have to folk out:
1) 2 years of opportunity cost, compared to Sinkie ladies and FT
2) Another 10 years wasted on reservist, RT, IPPT etc

Secondary school home economic can teach some cooking.
So it is better ladies to learn to shoot easier to operate weapons like Bolt action rifle, grenade launcher.
and medic skills.
Anyway Ng is among the worst performer in Lee cabinet.
To use foreigners in NS pose more danger.

Total defence is everyone business and LMW is right. NEH is like JoT. Not providing good answer. NS for woman can be in the form of health care support to the nation. Not necessary combat role.
And all the minister's line of argument is flawed.
Women lose 2 economical years in workforce but men no issue? But women accepted in military command is OK and encouraged? So women can lead but cannot be soldiers? So foreigners let into Singapore because men went to be cheap labour soldiers? Then Mlaw Minister just one word thank you settle the bill?

There is many special course offered from 2000s,
home economy is perhaps no longer taught in some schools.

Good point. If not acting out of self interest, then LMW has a good point. There are many aspect of total defence girls can serve for 22 months same like boys.
