A Renault vehicle is understood to have hit people next to the war-ravaged Gedaechtniskirche church, one of the city's best-known landmarks near Breitscheidplatz square, at around 10.30am.
The driver has been arrested and is being held at the scene. One person is dead and at least eight people had been injured, five of whom have life-threatening injuries
