if true then a trend is set n you will not get good quality flats for replacement if any. you think no brain people sitting inside boardroom?
now they regret their under estimation of its severity but forced to satisfy you so furture SERS will probably be slowed and really, they will let 99 year old flats die a natural death like geylang! why wld they wanto try make you happy? now they shld super learn a lesson - not everybody is hardup with their SERS and VERS next!

Don't think this situation can be repeated easily.
It happened at Marsiling because the buy-back price is higher than the price for the new flats, mainly because of size I think. The new flats are much smaller.
5-room: new flats' price: 405k - 502k. Buy-back price: 420k - 530k. New Flat Size: 110sqm. Old flat size: 118sqm
4-room: 285k - 388k. 355k to 415k. Size 85-90. 104-110.
3-room: 184k to 255k. 290k to 350k. Size: 66. 74.

So old already
What they used to earn was yesterday's money at yesterday's pay
Good try trying to squeeze water from a desert rock
Want to raise the retirement age to 99 to fund new flats?

If only 20k reno then for the 3-roomers and even the 4-roomers, it's worth it because they still earn.
Moving is an issue. Not the financial part since that is free but the time and energy involved. For older folks, not so much energy to move ah.

good high time to bring down hdb exorbitant prices to make affordable living with no debts into our old age. HDB must go back to its original roots to make housing citizens affordable and livable. That mak-bok-tan had damaged our future with corporisation of hdb during his time just to overfill govt kitty.
