Yes, there was a bridge built by the British forces here (spore was part of the British colony). Ang Ko means English people. Ang mo kio was part of the bigger yio chu kang/jalan kayu. The old winding yio chu kang road stretches up to the sembawang circus (upper thomson rd). You go tru the archives of old photos can get all these too I think.
