He has been appointed as prime minister twice, and has been in office for 2822 days in a row and 3188 days in total, both of which are the longest in the history of constitutionalism.

His grandfather is former Prime Minister Nobusuke Kishi, and his father is former Foreign Minister Shintaro Abe. He ran for the 1993 House of Representatives election from the former Yamaguchi 1st district with the official approval of the Liberal Democratic Party, and was elected for the first time. He won 10 times in a row.
