Why do Singapore and Malaysia have a more favourable view of China than the US?

The two Southeast Asian states were outliers in a poll in which 25,000 respondents from 19 countries held mostly unfavourable views of Beijing
Some ethnic Chinese may view the Asian power as being culturally significant, while a respect for ‘strong’ leaders may also be why Singaporeans and Malaysians tend to think better of Xi, analysts say

you see in the survey results found that in Malaysia, that the percentage of Malaysians that are positive on China are greater than those malaysians that are positive on USA by 60% to 44%.

And in Malaysia, the malaysian-malays are the largest ethnic group and the malaysian-malays greatly outnumber the malaysian-chinese and yet the survey results are 60% of malaysians including the malaysian-malays are positive on China.

This proves that the majority of malaysian-malays are positive on China.

It is the indians that are generally very anti-China and very anti-PRCs.

I strongly feel that the overwhelming vast majority of China-hater posters in edmw forum and in this sgtalk forum are either singaporean-indians or indians from india or malaysia.

Actually the authorities should start some education campaign among the indians to tell them don't be so detest/hate PRCs and don't be so detest/hate China.

I had spoken to PRCs before and all of them said they don't hate indians hence it is very puzzling why so many indians hate PRCs and hate China??

By the way, talking about the 2 worst China-haters here in sgtalk forum, Sharexchange and kokee,

I strongly think that the China-hater racist scum dog Sharexchange is an ethnic indian that is a very hardcore racist Chinese-hater whereas that kokee is a paid internet brigade that is paid to post PRCs-bashings threads in this sgtalk forum.
If the Chinese in these 2 countries got attacked by other races, whom do you think they look up to for help? America or China?

America will be busy selling arms to both sides and extend the war like we saw in Ukraine and elsewhere.

China boycotted Indonesia during the anti-Chinese killing by Suharto and cronies in the late 90s.
some of sgtalk jokers are vietkong refugees
Simple …. ask Afghanistan and Ukraine
look at Iraq, Syria, Libya ….
How they weaponised USD ….
.
Since the survey proven Singaporeans have more favourable view of China than US

Why PM Lee still needs to ask other Asean members to choose between China and US?

Obviously, PM Lee views China differ from the  majority Singaporeans

'Only in Hungary, Israel, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea did a majority of people believe that strengthening economic ties should come first.

The other countries included in the poll - carried out between February and June - were Australia, Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Japan.'

The recent poll are surveyed are in mostly the 30 countries that sanction on Cn on human rights claims.
Result may be more favorable for Cn if survey in remaining 160 nations in UN.

PM did not have grip of world sentiment till he saw only 48 countries sanction on  Rus

While Sg has more favorable, there are many that hate Cn very much, can see from this forum
although some obviously are not Sporeans.
..

Our PM Lee thinks otherwise

One additional supporter unable to tilt  the scale.
.
Why is PM Lee standing on the wrong side of the fence?

- Asking Asean members to make a choice between China and US.
Obviously, he already decided.

- Singapore, One of 48 countries imposed sanction on Russia.
And is the only one based on principles.
We should keep racist remarks out of our discussion.  Love or hate a country is a personal thing although in many ways linked to the ways we are brought up and educated over the years.  People's views and perceptions can also change over time.

Japan was once hated by most people before because of what it did in the second World war.  Today,  the position might have been changed with China trying to claim the right of the 9-dash line.  We cannot ignore that this proclamation of China has started to hurt the good relationship China has had with many other countries.  The hatred and conflicts can only grow bigger and not smaller.

Let's hope the countries and the people involved in the disputes could exercise restraint and not create confrontations and subsequently, wars to hurt all of us.
