This week saw the daily positivity rate — the figure to represent the number of people who tested positive for the virus out of all those who took the test on that day — falling to 6.36 percent, inching closer to the maximum 5 percent standard set by the World Health Organization. The rate exceeded 30 percent in July and August. The Health Ministry said the positivity rate had fallen below the WHO standard in 16 provinces.
Tens of millions of vaccine doses have arrived and been distributed since July, mostly to Greater Jakarta. The next priority regions were Bali, West Java and East Java. “Bali actually has the highest vaccination coverage, perhaps even reaching 90 percent,” the source added.
The region with the second highest vaccination rate is Jakarta with more than 70 percent. “Jakarta’s strategy allows people with KTP [identification cards] outside of Jakarta to vaccinate in the city,” the source said.
However, East and West Java both faced difficulty as vaccine stocks ran thin. “Fortunately, more vaccines have now been distributed.”
