Video below talks about the lying flat movement spreading to the US.
As you alll know I have not worked since the pandemic started. I am looking to start another business but have not gotten around to it as costs are rising and it's not an easy thing.
I have been thinking a lot about society and life. Here are my thoughts and how it relates to the lying flat movement.
For a period, I have tuition to primary and secondary school students. I noticed over time the loading on our students has increased year after year. When I was attending primary and secondary school, it was quite relaxed. We still have a childhood where friends would gather to play board games or go fishing wasting away the hours. Or chit chating about all sorts of things.
Today student load and competition is highly intense and stakes are high for places at good schools and universities. Students in addition to school attend enrichment classes on weekends. When they become adults they enter a very competitive work environment where people are monitored constantly assessed abs ranked. They become economic tools. The cost of living rises every year sothey need to work harder and harder to keep up. Management use technology to track workers and find ways to push them harder. ...and there is no end to this.
As pressures increase every year human quality of life falls. Yes they create better gadgets to entertain and destract you. But your social and spiritual life is deteriorating. Sometimes it is not just yourself, it happens to your friend so friendships weaken because your friend no longer has time to meet you because of job pressures. What then happens to society?
Today we see the rapid moral decay and th complete loss of values. What is the actual meaning of living in such a society?
The lying flat movemf is a push back against the relentless push to keep growing economy without consideration for the human being.
Even before the lying flat movement, I realized tobreak this vicious cycle one has to be born rich or stumble upon money to escape the grind of machine. The other way to do it is to live minimally so that you are not enslaved by the need for money. I chose the later approach while trying to figure out the former.
