Even with the current covid situation in SG, I don't envy HK. They can't see any light at the end of the tunnel and their fate is now tied even tighter to PRC. Yet, sooner of later, HK will meet a covid outbreak like it has never seen before.
HK must be so terribly proud and happy now.

They have beaten their most worthy opponent hollow for now.

can describe a scenario places like HK or NZ can in the long run avoid going through a phase that SG going through? once they reach fully vaccinated, then what? Stay closed forever?
Would argue that in a way SG got here faster coz already finished the vaccination stage....
