Gaming and e-commerce company Sea is putting the brakes on its game livestream platform and shutting projects at its development unit after reporting an almost US$1 billion quarterly loss, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Employees were told that staff numbers at its gaming livestream business and its development arm would be cut, sources said.

The lesson here is never fall in love with your company. You slogged to death while the bosses get their huge pay and bonuses. They reward you with measly amounts with a pat on the shoulder, and when it comes to bad times they never think of cutting their salaries to save your job.

Sea uses gaming profits to subsidise it's e-commerce to fight Lazada.
But Lazada is supported by massive cash flow from Alibaba.
The ecommerce competition is becoming lopsided.....
Shoppee will scale down as they are running of of cash. That is why they are shrinking staff and retrenching workers.
Lazarda on the other hand is expanding to Europe.
