He's saying the obvious. So what's his plan?
Tax for rich such as estate tax is difficult. Help the lowly paid is difficult. But tax the middle class and squeeze all dry is easy. Up minimum sum and complicate CPF so money stays with govt is easy... Collect and fine commoners very simple. Go after real crooks and high ses crooks is difficult?? Lol

Wonder if heaven really got eyes and will serve justice or not... Very little faith left... I'm not Job and sadly will never be able to attain his kind of faithfulness...
Why so easy to uplifting high wage worker such as Judges?🤔🤦

Ministers salary jumped 35% - 40%

Low wages...BS
"There are no hidden components or perks in the salary structure for Singapore's ministers, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean said in Parliament yesterday.

He explained that all the bonuses paid to an entry-level minister form part of his $1.1 million annual salary norm and are not on top of the amount.

"The salary structure is totally transparent. There are no hidden salary components or perks," Mr Teo said in reply to a question from Mr Alex Yam (Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC) after falsehoods about the issue resurfaced.

Claims were made online recently that the Government was not upfront about how ministerial salaries are calculated.

There were also allegations that the prime minister's base salary of $2.2 million a year could rise to $4.5 million after factoring in bonuses."

Kick in the gut
who paid their salary, after all is we all.
There is no corruption in animal farm, just different class hence different treatment. Four legs good, two legs bad. Then there are exceptions and genuine ones so cannot expect or demand equality and equity.

Sheep are meant for slaughtering houses lah... If only God hears our sufferings and decides to lend a hand and blessings...
Lower wage workers here are treated like Dalit caste in India. Looks like this culture is taking root here?? ..... Thinking

Min wage : No
Estate tax : No
Higher income tax : No
Comprehensive single payer healthcare: No
Welfare : No

You don't need do any of the above if  there is no problem but there is. The income inequality is among  highest if not highest in the developed  world.

Not that it happened yeaterday it is worsening for years.
"But while Singapore wants to see lower-wage workers get higher starting salaries, it is also important that these workers see continued career progression throughout their working lives."

if higher post are already occupied, probably by foreigner then progress will be stalled.

In order to prevent gap expanding further, set minimum salaries must come with progressive CPF returns. A uniform rate allow those higher wage and fund to pull further
faster.

QUOTE :
Singapore must be careful of “unintended consequences” when working through solutions to advance the well-being of lower-wage workers, says Larry the Annointed according the MSM.

Ofcos all solutions, policies and initiatives have both good and bad outcomes or the so called trade-offs, favourite word of the supertalents. It is a matter whether the good outcomes outweigh the bad. The trouble is while Larry the Annointed is absolutely correct about the unintended consequences of advancing the well being of low wage workers..... what is not said are the unintended consequences of overly business friendly policies like unfettered access to FTs and FWs. Even if you think such policies have the balance of trade-offs favouring their implementation, such balance of trade-offs changes over time. Nice to know Larry the Annointed have our backs that our country won't slip into the backwaters with unintended consequences..... just that we get finger wagging when it comes to helping out the plebs not when it comes to stuffs that favours the fatcats.

PAP Idiots only know how to talk cock all the time

But ZERO ability to analyze

1) Don't they know that Prevention is better than Cure?

Why allow Non- tech jobs to be replaced by FTs to make citizens

pick up unwanted jobs then??

PAP must remove FTs to Return the jobs to citizens to raise this salary

Just sack JoTeo and Vote them out.
Tui him la..

"[In] some cases, what other countries have seen is that a number of the beneficiaries of a higher minimum wage are not low-income families but young people from rich families who go out and work at minimum wage levels."
- Lawrence Wong, on calls for a minimum wage in Singapore.

very WARPED

A full fledge minister can take examples that appear to be isolated exceptions and derive generalisations to use as  justifications for policies.

This is highly flawed.

Its like the smoker concluding it is okay to smoke because his grand father was a smoker who lived until 90yrs old.
Don't know if I should continue with points 2 and 3

since all PAP Ministers are like Chan CS

all must spoon feed them with answers

while they laze around to enjoy the music

Vote PAP OUT.
because of this "..but young people from rich families who go out and work at minimum wage levels"

tsktsk

Just another hilarious episode. To me, Future PM, regardless if they are Tom, Dick or Harry, will still be the same like 5 years ago. Knowing but not doing, or rather driving around going nowhere is their strength. Are these imbecile expecting problems to solve themselves?
2) Can LW specify the 10 or 20 Low Wage Jobs?
If filled up by FWs, why give himself so much problem to wayang on Media News?
Are we paying him to waste time on FWs?
