Between 2005 and 2021, with her energy policy, the former Chancellor placed Russia as one of the country's most important gas suppliers. "Even during the Cold War, Russia was a reliable energy supplier", justified the former leader of the CDU.

By your rationale, the question is during her Premiership from 2005 - 2021, why didn't Germany becomes a communist country? 

Not forgetting the respect she has won in Europe not just Germany alone, for her works during her reign.
