Next mth will be lower than 3.21%

27-10-2022, 05:53 PM
Take out some of your cpf OA $$$ for those above 55 and apply SSB every mth.

Doesn’t work that way. The CPF SA will be depleted first and this is earning 4%

27-10-2022, 10:15 PM
Applied 10k got 10k

If a person gotch 200k he will have to do it 10x if the allotment is max 10k per time

Precisely. But my point is that you can’t take out funds from your OA to buy SG Savings Bonds before depleting your SA account first. And some folks may have lots of funds in SA.
And it just doesn’t make sense to use funds from an account paying 4% to buy into bonds that is paying only 3.21% at the moment. Also need to factor in that the CPF SA interests are also compounded.
Note: Cash to be withdrawn from CPF, because you cannot use CPF funds to buy

I thought it is as hard as applying for IPO, turned out it is so easy to get as garment needs our money.

why SSB?
T bill is better. This round gives 4.19%, and full allotment

Yes, you are very up to date. This is the latest rate, and full allotment even for the non competitive bids.

Then how come you never invest in t bill?

28-10-2022, 02:30 PM
T bill, min investment amount $1000, can use cash, CPF and SRS to buy

This month t bill will lose CPF interest for 8 months. As the auction date and issue date are different

SSB is 10 years. T-bill short term so not exactly the same. This rising interest cannot go on for 10 years can it? So best to buy both

Finally this forum is having a very slight semblance of an investment corner instead of purely a wet market where fighting old unkers and aunties gather

in this case, T-bill is better
- higher interest rate, should be around 4.5% next round.
- can use CPF OA to buy, don't have to withdraw cash from CPF OA.

by definition, t-bills are short term investment with maturity periods ranging from a few days up to 52 weeks.

Yes, temporary-bills are very short term and you have to reapply or do nothing but earning saving interest after that. Very lehcheh
