The DPP minister has no case to bring the matter to WTO, citing the following reasons:
1) this bugs cases was brought to Taiwanese authority attention months ago, the authority did not do anything to improve the condition of the produce.
2) Taiwan has not purchased any agricultural products from China, it is a one way traffic deal. Meaning China bought the produce from Taiwan and not the other way round. Therefore WTO will not take on this complaint because the trading is one sided.
3) New Zealand has also complaint about Taiwanese fruits found with bugs as reported by the news media a few months back, but Taiwanese authority instead of complaining they resolved the matters amicably.
4) DPP authority previously claimed that they will bring up the case of the banned by the Chinese on their pineapple earlier this year to WTO but didn’t. Instead DPP managed to psyche up the sentiments in many Taiwanese, especially the younger generations who hate the Chinese more than ever.
