The seller had a whole basket of durians unsorted big and small. The thorns were different some widely spaced some closely spaced so I take it the durians are all different types.
They all look wholesome though no cracks no rot holes no browning. From the stem I can tell they are fresh durians  You have to pick yourself but the seller will help you to open. Cannot put in box.

I used my durian picking skills to find one that is ripe and from the snell can make sure it has good taste.

Here it is. I will open to eat later

You say seller help you open then why later say open later let us know?

The seller can help you open if you want. However if durian is bad he will not replace it.

I decided not to have it opened and bring home to open myself. Opening will leak all the smell out. So I opted to open at home

How are u going to open? Using a flat head screw driver?

Usually I just use a normal metal spoon.
If the durian you choose is ripe it is fairly easy to open.
If not just use chopper

Ripe, fairly easy to open.

Not ripe?  Hard to open?  But why would you still bother to open it if it is not ripe?  Scrap all the pulp out, add sugar, add durian flavouring which you can buy from FP or SS, cook it and put in the fridge and jiak later?

I have opened the durian all good.
Evenly ripe very sweet. My guess it is D24.
Given the collapse.jn durian prices they just sell the black thorn, red prawn and MSW.  The rest treat like lay long sale.
...but quality still very good.

These past few years, durian prices dropped because China closed its borders.

Before that, when China imported durians by the megatons. the best durians were exported to China. If MSW, we got the Johor ones, not the Pahang ones. Even then, they were sold to us very sexpensively.

Must say you pick the right fit one. Bak Kut Teh durian.

Penang has Kungfu Durian. Pahang and JB have MSW.

Now that there is no export to China, durian prices dropped drastically, it is opportune time to eat till one heart's content...........

Need a hand or some utensil beside to gauge the size ... all zoom in too close cant see the size
