They have run out of idea lah.
Aging population issue is haunting them.

Big Cost reduction is needed in health care sector.
Easiest and laziest way to increase revenue is to raise GST until no limit.

The fact that nursing is not a popular career choice among sinkies is a blessing in disguise because we ended up hiring nurses from Myanmar, India and the Philippines.  That kept a major component of healthcare cost down.

The other major cost component are the specialised equipment which we have pretty much no control over.  Taking those away from doctors is like sending soldiers to the battlefield with no tanks, no grenades, no guns.

Instead of using state-of-the-art equipment, we can of course use those used in the 1990s or early 2000s.  And depend on the doctors' best guess as to what in hell is wrong with us, why we have this pain here or there...that would lower healthcare cost, but do you want that?  Why do you think rich Indonesians come to our hospitals, even rich Arabs come here, and of course Malaysian ministers?
