No logic to drop so much.
Kateks at work. Last year's profit was a record for UOB, but kateks instead spread the news that the results missed expectations.
Is this the reason for the fall?

The bank set aside more provisions for potential bad debt, to the tune of $184 million, from higher specific allowance on “a few non-systemic accounts”.
Dont be fooled by massage number. Rotfl

Rate hike will kill their profit.
Just buy. Thank me later.

Good thing yr Frd didn’t wait for results announcements. UOB wil drops further.
FD rates also drops
High interest rate no one dare to borrow.. bank need to pay high FD rates… only cum gong dare to holding/buy at current prices..

Big Grin
Rate hike good for the bank
One percent rate hike is +2 billion profit per annum for dbs bank roughly
So other local bank should be positive too
and there's prolly another 75 bp to go this year
Remember a year ago fed interest rate was near jilo, now around 4++

So is a few billions extra income, easy money for the banks

MAS has set pre-requisite on banks. They are not supposed to lend more than their borrowings. That’s why banks always give high interest rates to lure customers in order to increased their borrowings.
