My thinking is as long as US don't call it quit Zelensky the dog will obey his master faithfully. So to get Zelensky to go to negotiation table is to let US tell him to go. But US is enjoying the proxy war now die not their own ppl ok just keep supplying weapons and wear down Russia. China already see this plot through which is why China may need to tactically support Russia since both got common arch enemy and that is US. N.Korea already send volunteer soldiers to help Russia.
Wait for them to go bankrupt.

War will end when both side people no mood to fight....China come in to mediation, NATO stop supply arms and money to Ukraine...
Another angle. Russia is also trying to de weaponize the whole of NATO by exhausting their weaponary and shaking up NATO. When they see not able to win Russia, they might change tactics to peaceful means.

When Ukraine war is over, Russia will be China back support..
