Like it or not it's going to happen one way or another.
Ukraine can't retake the Donbass. They can't retake Crimea. Even if they did, it would be deemed a direct threat to Russian national interest as these territories aren't simply Russian-allied but Russian-annexed (Crimea since 2014 no less). Guess what is the nuclear red line of Russia?
