SINGAPORE – A historic outing at the Olympics for Singapore equestrienne Caroline Chew ended in heartbreak as she was eliminated from the dressage individual qualification competition on Sunday (July 25) after her horse Tribiani was found to be bleeding from the mouth.
The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) said that she was eliminated in accordance with International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) dressage rules article 430.7.6.1, which states: If the Judge at C suspects fresh blood anywhere on the Horse during the test, he will stop the horse to check for blood. If the Horse shows fresh blood, it will be eliminated. The elimination is final. If the Judge through examination clarifies that the Horse has no fresh blood, the Horse may resume and finish its test.
The SNOC said that Francis Verbeek Van Rooij (president of ground jury) had halted Chew’s ride to check and confirmed traces of blood were seen in the 17-year-old gelding’s mout

Horse vomiting blood?
That is really sad after all that training ....
Such a rare sports here...will not flourish if she stay here.
moral of the story for this sport is
nothing to do with how good you are
but all to do with how good you treat animals

Caroline believed her horse caught his lip in the corner before the one-time changes.

“It was a bit of a freak accident,” she said. “He was going all right and feeling good, presenting really well. Then he just caught his lip in the corner – I didn’t feel anything happen, but obviously the judge saw it and rang us out.”

Spore all sports also cannot make it
Never give up.
I quote.
For instance, Michael Jordan, one of the best basketball players of all times said, “I’ve failed over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.”
Crying doesn't solve any problem, just try again next time...
Can appeal or not? horse lip bleeding is not a big injury to the horse, should clean the blood and let her continue.
The horse is doing most of the work. Priority must go to the health and safety of the horse.

Yes good to stop the competition so as not to hurt the horse anymore.

Any possibility that the horse was mishandled prior to the event?
Using animal to achieve a sports medal is a going against Animal Rights and ethic.

If the horse is bleeding, the horse should be rested and not be forced to run.  Animals have pain are are unable to complain. Its inhumane and cruelty to  animals for selfish end.
