From the criteria listed for PE, mainly those ministers from the same party qualify. Ppl from pte sector difficult.

I read before it is not don't have it is those from pte sector don't want. Why? Becuz you need to be an obedient dog and hands are tied. Yes monies are good but those make it big in pte sector those president salary monies maybe peanuts. Key is freedom restricted.

What you say also makes sense, but MIW wants to have a EP who is an obedient dog, never mind if he/she is from the former ruling party.  Having said that those who were 'nominated are those who had made it good in the private sector and will be reluctant to contest for this post.  The people here, Singaporeans wants a EP who is willing to go against the grain and able to assert their will in some policies they think is important and crucial  in the running of this country.............

Reason is being last time never anticipate the president ask a lot of question and I know a lot internals from his check. E.g need 3 keys to open up Spore reserves. He still thought he as President can open. Later he kena some illness died. Then from the next candidate onwards they become smart come out a lot of criteria to get an obedient dog that don't question so much.

All ex-pap will not dare to run if HC is. Even GY already said NO. It will be another walkover because everyone else will be disqualified.

For the current gov. to dig  into the reserves, will require the green light from the EP,  but the problem is that these EPs are there because of the ruling party, and thence the approval is almost automatic..............................
