No lah. Quite normal HK housing. Caged housing really got cage. People really live on an area the size of a bed in the cage.

Think depends on operator. If the operator does what it is supposed to do, then the cleanliness should be acceptable.

Yup, so depends on the operator. More appropriate for comparison will be operators of workers' dormitories or students' halls.

But HK single (married couple too) retirees are now able to move to mainland for much lower cost living with better living environment.
Staying in a mainland retirement village is also way cheaper than employing a caregiving maid in HK.
