Looks quite old at his age. And type of job as a freelance programmer not very secure

US$380k can retire? Can only buy 4-room HDB in SG and must then eat air for 50 years. Not everyone lives in a third world country like Americans.

No, he wanted to retire later with a minimum of US625K (which is low). Most probably he will retire with more but that's his floor. At US625K, he plans to live on US25K per year, which again is low considering that he got a wife and a kid.

He also lives in Minnesota so his cost of living is generally lower than in California or NY. Not the cheapest US state to live in (somewhere in the middle) but maybe can survive with the floor he set.

It is not practical to retire at US$626K ............cos to buy a house and needs money for health care and school children's expenses........

Very successful guy by many standards. Happy for him.

Checked it out and found out that you did and you say retiring at 625K is not practical. I agree too. But he did say it's a floor so most probably he will retire with more, much more in fact.
