Robert O'Brien, the last White House national security adviser in the Trump administration, said that if China really attacks Taiwan, the United States would rather destroy TSMC first, so as not to fall into the hands of the CCP.

O'Brien pointed out that the United States will take the lead in destroying these fabs, comparing it to the "decisiveness" of then British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in order to destroy the French naval fleet after France surrendered to Germany during World War II, killing at least 1,000 sailors.

In fact, this is not the first time O'Brien has made such an argument. At the "Grand Strategy Summit" organized by the Nixon Foundation last November, he argued that if the CCP invades, it will be the United States' responsibility to destroy the Taiwan fab. One of the top priorities.

Very dangerous to live or work nearby
The life of a Chip fabrication plant is about 2 to 3 years after the commissioning;  thereafter,  it would become obsolete and would not be able to compete.  If USA is successful in getting TSMC to set up newer plants  outside Taiwan,  won't think USA would want TSMC to demolish their plants in Taiwan.
