So this current honduras situation ish mainly just a chess of diplomacy game between US and CCP nia and looking at recent history CCP ish wining over south america through the same money diplomacy strategy they used in africa, Taiwan at most ish only a collateral damage nia in a major US diplomatic defeat. Actually many south america countries are very poor and so already tend to be very pro-socialism and dictatorship system liao so much easier for CCP to make friends with and\or buy over, just that during the cold war US had tried maintain tight control and heavy attention of the area to prevent USSR infiltration into their backyard, so still manage to prevent most from going red.

But after the downfall of USSR and 911 incident, US focus had been shifted to anti-terrorism as the new global threat, mistakenly underestimate the new rising red threat from the east. So their attention and grip in south america start to loosen over the years and CCP manage to use this open window opportunity to slip in and increase their influence and dominant in that region. Don't forget US had been sian dip dip by CCP panda diplomacy in the past and only really start to wake up to the threat of CCP in recent years nia, so will be uphill task nao for them to try pray catch up to regain the same level of control and influence again over south america region. After all in those post old cold war years most AMDK still didn't realize that CCP ish a far greater threat than the old USSR.
