Concerns about the banking sector have returned with full force on the financial markets. Shortly before the weekend, Deutsche Bank's share price plummeted by up to 14 percent at times. 

Commerzbank shares are also sold en masse, the papers are at times minus 10 percent.The costs of so-called credit default swaps, i.e. financial instruments that protect bondholders against a possible default by Deutsche Bank, had skyrocketed overnight. 

According to the data provider S&P Market Intelligence, 173,000 instead of 142,000 euros had to be paid to secure a 10 million euro package of Deutsche Bank bonds.
