Weapon production makes Taiwan a big target of the PLA and China feels threatened and will bomb the arsenal and supply chains in Taiwan.

Buying weapons from the U.S. is ok but not to manufacture weapons in Taiwan, it is like 引火上身。

Taiwanese are blinded by what US has been shouting all over the world DEMOCRACY. 
It acts as a role for political money. 
Defense contractors are there for Taiwan money.,
