The procedure done at NYU Langone Health in New York City involved use of a pig whose genes had been altered so that its tissues no longer contained a molecule known to trigger almost immediate rejection.
The recipient was a brain-dead patient with signs of kidney dysfunction whose family consented to the experiment before she was due to be taken off of life support, researchers told Reuters.

It is found that a pig's organs are similar to a human's organ, thence an organ transplant from a pig is possible...only problem is how to not let the organ to be rejected by the human recipient..

pig’s kidneys, liver, heart, stomach & legs, like that next time can’t eat pig’s organs anymore, all used for transplant and sold at high price to hospitals.

I suspect those pigs to be used for organ transplant, will be specially bred ones, not the ones sold in the market.....

It is not a matter of not allowing to eat the pig, but rather not able to touch a pig, such is their believe....
