Before coming here, Mr. Kenneth Ng and his family had also made financial plans to ensure they had enough savings to finance his schooling expenses in Singapore.

However, after almost two years of being here, Mr. Ng admits that he is increasingly feeling the pressure to finance the cost of living here as well as school fees after the value of the Ringgit continues to fall.

Ms Lee Wan Ning, 20, said for now she has set a weekly allowance of $100 including transport and phone bills and will save at least $30 every week in case something untoward happens.
