This was not all. On the Scotts 28 condominiums, similar offers and purchases were made. Greedy Lee Kuan Yew and son bought two more units and paid $2,791,500 and $2,776,400 respectively for them, each bagging a five percent discount.
All in all, Lee Kuan Yew received from HPL a total of $416,252 whilst Lee Junior got $643,185 in discounts. All the purchases amounted to more than $10 million and were carried out without mortgages and loans."

No, owner is free to offer ah sham the rent he want, if ah sham was to reward the owner thru other means, then it is a different story. But sla is not the owner of the Ridout rd units, the ownership belong to sinkie.
Ong and HPL have previously been the cause of awkwardness for the PAP, when in 1996 it sold Prime Minister Lee and his father, the country’s revered independence leader Lee Kuan Yew, luxury properties at a discount.

The then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong launched an investigation into the matter and cleared both leaders of wrongdoing, with the findings of the probe debated in parliament. The Lees donated sums equivalent to the discount to charity.

Tang Liang Hong, Workers Party candidate and lawyer kena sue until pants drop, bankrupted lost house had to escape to Australia. Wife also joined him in exile.
He was contesting Cheng San GRC. That one also another big saga in SG political story, and is also why LTK and Hougang are so solidly WP till now.
