......

Recent reports from the Victorian Department of Health find that unvaccinated people are 10 times more likely to contract COVID-19 than vaccinated people.

We also know that vaccinated people are less likely to transmit the disease even if they become infected. The Doherty modelling from August puts the reduction at around 65 per cent, although more recent research has suggested a lower estimate for AstraZeneca.

Hence for this thought experiment, we’ll take a lower value of 50 per cent.

As the prevalence of COVID-19 changes over time, it’s hard to estimate an absolute risk of exposure. So instead, we need to think about risks in a relative sense.

If I were spending time with an unvaccinated person, then there’s some probability they’re infected and will infect me.

However, if they were vaccinated, they’re ten times less likely to be infected and half as likely to infect me, following the numbers above.

Hence we arrive at a 20-fold reduction in risk when hanging out with a vaccinated person compared to someone who’s not vaccinated.

The exact number depends on a range of factors, including the type of vaccine and time since vaccination. But in Australia, we can expect a large risk reduction when mixing with fully vaccinated people.

The calculation holds true whether you yourself are vaccinated or not. But being vaccinated provides a ten-fold reduction for yourself, which is on top of the risk reduction that comes from people you’re mixing with being vaccinated.

......

as more information emerges, we can always update our estimates and think through the implications on the risk reduction.

Talking cok.
The data inputs at start already flawed and this propaganda filth still allowed online??

Pathetic
these are main stream gophers trying to be funny
its foolish to get medical advice from a propagandist
Yes and no. Yes cause too many MRNA carrying few fold the load without know or affected walking around.
No is logic. Problem never on them.

But the first threat is on family members like elderly and young children.
Funny i saw some children don't wear mask outside.
Really amazing.
Next they will say unvax created the virus.
Vaccinated less likely to get infection does not then equals to unvaccinated more likely to spread infection. Where got such way of interpretation one? And this is allowed cos it's in line with govt msg to get people vaccinated?

No pofma if aligned with govt msg?

So system 7 more likely to hit jackpot means other system no chance to hit jackpot? Or then you just buy system 7 and sure safe bet?

Whether you get infected or not depends on your immune system's ability to fend off atk. Vaccination helps to some extend for seriousness of infection.

For unvaccinated but very strong immune system, they most likely kill off the virus. Will they spread more? If the viral load for both vaccinated and unvaccinated is the same, then no difference.

And going by the books, if unvaccinated gets infected, mostly he or she already in ICU and can't be out there to infect you. If you are vaccinated but infected yet you still no symptoms, will you be going about your daily task or at home? Will you be spreading or keeping the virus to yourself?

Err logics rite?

It is very strange that a vaccinated person can be infected with the Covid-19 viruses.  But I believe that the vaccinated ones will suffer less pain and less likely to infect others.. Big Grin
If anything I think a vaccinated carrier is more likely to infect others since:

1. They likely without symptoms so they just continue life as norm unless they test every day with ART.

2. They more likely are out in malls and everywhere since they are not restricted.

3. They are dining in everywhere. And the infection cases hasn't come down even when we restricted unvaccinated folks from eating out. It means that there are more or most of people out there are vaccinated.

If the lockdown on unvaccinated folks resulted in infection cases dropping. I can safely agree with govt pov that unvaccinated most likely spreading the virus. But that is not happening on the ground.
Actually PAP is the only cause of all virus infections!
So once vaccinated, you more vulnerable. Laughing

There is no logic in this, our garment wants everybody here to be  vaccinated with at least 2 jabs, thence the requirement of showing evidence of being vaccinated to enter a shopping mall, hawker centres and eateries... Thinking
