Sharks could become angrier as ocean temperatures reach the highest level on record, biologists warn.
The average surface temperature climbed to 20.96C this week
......
It surpasses the previous high of 20.95C which was set in 2016.
......
Predatory animals such as sharks can become aggressive as they get confused in hotter conditions.
Dr Simon Boxall, a sea and oceanography expert at University of Southampton, said: “Sharks getting grumpy wouldn’t surprise me at all. Fish are pretty jumpy about temperature.
“Certain marine animals have a very narrow tolerance for temperature changes.
“The population of marine animals such as fish and whales and the entire food chain will be affected.
“It’s the rapid change that causes problems because nature doesn’t have time to adjust.”
