>But ultimately, the root problem of sea-level rise - planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions - must be tackled, reiterated Professor Benjamin Horton, director of the Earth Observatory of Singapore at Nanyang Technological University, and the webinar's third panellist.
"You need to remove the greenhouse gases to slow down the rates of (sea-level) rise. Then we can adapt, then we can live along the coastline, we can work along our coastline, and our ecosystems can thrive," said Prof Horton.
"But if we don't get at the root cause, your adaptations are meaningless."<

last paragraph is talk cock, SG so small, even we are the greenest nation on this planet would not make any diff if the rest of world dun change
The study overturns previous assumptions that most of Greenland’s ice sheet has been frozen for millions of years, the authors said. Instead, moderate, natural warming led to large-scale melting and sea level rise of more than 1.4 meters (4.6 feet), according to the report published Thursday in the journal Science.
Shouldn’t we build barriers and walls along the coastal areas like what Japan and other Cuba r done  to prevent sea level going up now that massive ice melting takes place in North Pole and Antarctica?

It is no longer a prediction, it is real as many animal bodies from 50,000 years ago are now exposed after the ice on top got melt in the North Pole for the first time in human history.

Like this new land to be completed in next 10 years ?

Sources say this 900 ha reclaimed site could be for military use and act as added protection against rising sea levels.

Ice in Antarctica, Greenland and Siberia melt down in rapid speed over past two years, the temperature in Siberia reached 30 degree for the first time, Greenland used to be covered under ice for 90% and now 90% become grassland. Dead bodies of bears who died a few thousands of years ago are exposed after the ice meltdown. A ocean is also melt down as now ship can go through even during winter. As a result, sea level goes up and Spore is under huge threat.
