There are gains of cuz but not those big gains like retake a whole city kind. Theirs is retake village aka kumpung in Msia. So from an overall perspective it is considered a failure.

Anyone still remember US sold Stinger missiles to Mujaheddin during the USSR invasion of Afghanistan in 1980s ?

Decades later the Taliban managed to kicked US out after 20 years of war....after flooding the country with billions $ of arms and military equipment.

History has shown arms suppliers tend to get bad Karma as a return of favor...
