This is what Buddha told us, that after one just passed away, he can hear what others are saying. Hence, family members should not cry, as this will cause him to be stressed and go to another birth realm.

According to buddhism, before one dies, it is good to recall all the good deeds one has done and feel happy about it. It will help that person to be reborn in the higher realm.

The last sense that leaves the body is the hearing. I have not come across this in the sutta.

Wat is so great about our death...it's a natural process in our journey thru life ...everyone has to die n billions billions of humans had perished since the first humans on earth ... from ash to adh, dust to dust...
Nothing special ..all .kjngs, queens, emperors , rich or poor , none is spared! When the time comes, it just comes.
..wat rubbish go to another realm , nobody knows,
...
Just do good, do charity, help the less fortunate.

平时不烧香, 临时抱佛脚。
One do not know what will happen the next moment. One should prepare for death early as one will surely die one day. Preparing means understanding and practicing the teachings early. So that one has no fear or less fear. Dying in fear or confused is a sure way to go to a lower realm.
