A lower qualification person is willing to take higher risk than a higher qualification person who will likely hide in their comfort zone.

Our children must compete with CECA who are having good jobs and I am sure they have degrees, including nonsensical unrecognised or irrelevant degree.

Yes, it is also due to it is too common to have degree these days as compare to twenty years ago.
Labour market unable to fulfill the supply.

But I have to be honest after paper chase for several decades,
to do without one will be in disadvantage, especially young ones.
Govt has been late for a decade to do containment or educate.
2008 should see the trend.

Just now at bukit timah mfc saw the hawkers there slogging so hard to make a living. Mostly old folks but quite a number are young men and women. Felt sorry for two xmm and a xdd who were busy serving a long q of customers. At their ages, shd be studying or taken care of by parents. Lives must be very stifling for them

A degree lets the potential employer know you are at least interviewing someone who has gone thru an education system.
Only self-entitled losers will assume a degree guarantee you employment let alone success
