The businessmen who bought the coffeeshops at  ridiculously inflated prices would have to raise the rents substantially to recoup their investment.  The tenants who vote with their feet will do so once they realise that they won't be able to make a profit after the rent is increased.

Rot is at the top, thanks for the greedy PAP to raise GST in 2 years just to sustain their high salaries.

This is because everybody so yaukui want to bid high and high. So once get it, they have to pass the high cost to the consumers. Consumers are also not so stoopid lah. Why pay so much for drinks in a coffeesop?

But hor, youngsters are willIng to pay much more for bubble teas and starbucks coffee.
The world has changed. Youngsters spend and spend, oldsters save and save.
