One in 7 people in S'pore suffer mental illness. - BigBossX - 02-08-2021 This means each class of 30 students have 4 or 5 kids that need treatment. Are they getting it? Do we provide enough support?...or does it go untreated as everyone pretend nothing wrong? Singapore society is high pressure one with children subjected to high competitive pressure. Due to this mental illness rose from 1 in 50 to 1 in 7. If we continue pressuring m, it will rise to.1 in 5 in near future. How then do we cope. Should more children be put on medication? Quote:Statistics from the Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) last week showed that the number of suicides in Singapore for those aged in their 20s remained the highest last year compared to those in other age groups. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/in-focus-young-people-mental-health-singapore-treatment-13002934 RE: One in 7 people in S'pore suffer mental illness. - A2Z - 02-08-2021 child psychology a new course for some? If these students are spotted early, they can be treated. However, our useless school education system do not encourage teachers to be able to identify such students. Mother went to school the teachers brush it off and say other student behavior "normal of kids this age". ...nothing done. The .mom had to pull the kid out to home school. Every case of bullying should be treated with very seriously as victim may be mentally vulnerable and something dangerous can happen. MOE should release number of bullying complaints and how many children have to drop out because of this. I think you are mistaken. The pressures faced by young is at a different level from old uncle's time. Last time they spend time playing marbles or catching. Now the pressure on children is very high like pressure cooker. And Singapore MOE refuse to follow scientific evidence of nit conducting early testing like PSLE... .what is the purpose anyway when so may top jobs are filled by foreigners? Nothing to do with mental illness, its unrealistic expectation is the main cause.
