An American motor-industry consultant test drove a CDM (China-Domestic Model) of the Seagull.  Since it is illegal to be driven on US public road - He test drove it in a large private ground and was surprised with the quality build at that price. Given the inflation, going green and financial situation most Americans are in today - BYD's seagull can be a welcome for in a country that lacks good public transport.

China is not Japan - That failure to appreciate had lead to a defeated General MacAuthur who in anger wanted to nuke the Chinese during the Korean War.

And we see the same story played out again today - US could control and stop Japan's industrial rise  in 1990s...But they cannot do the same to China now.

Some of these American an European brand should have been allowed to extinct after the 2008 financial crisis..

nearly 2 decades later, Chinese EV makers from BYD to Xpeng are just making sure Natural Selection takes its course.

I am actually waiting for US to made that Decision - To start a Nuclear War because of the Chinese are getting better not just with EV, Solar Panels, Battery tech, TikTok, Huawei, Xiaomi, Digital Yen, C919 jet liner, Chang'e moon landings etc etc....
