Before Kuleba's visit to China, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry issued a statement stating that the main topic of the talks with China would be "finding ways to stop Russian aggression and the role that China may play in achieving stability and a just peace."
Ukrainian President Zelensky publicly denounced China for the first time at the Shangri-La Forum in Singapore in early June for becoming Putin's tool, and pressured other countries not to participate in the Ukraine peace summit.
