We have been consuming for years.

This whole episode became politicised

Pro China elements want to see Taiwan govt fail on this as bias political opinion not on scientific and regulatory standpoints.

Only 41% of people turned up to vote, DPP could easily manipulate the result. As far as I understand most Taiwanese are against as it is no good for health and also affects local farmers. Politically DPP garment should not ban US pork to upset Uncle Sam hoping it will protect Taiwan from China.

orit can be they having common sense knowing countries like sg and australia have same reguation on US pork..

if turn out low ciuld be many dont see this as a big issue but something stirred by politicians.

what benefits do the garments get by feeding their ppl with these?

US protection ransom lah. Politically English Tsai must buy US pork but Taiwanese will not buy in the market, they will continue eating their favourite Taiwan pork.

Actually the referendum is banning the import of ractopamine pork, they are not banning USA pork. 

DPP has paint it that the opposition are banning USA pork, basically they have politicise the referendum.

Which somewhat angered or turn off many Taiwanese in going for the voting.

To be exact once DPP mentioned about China or CCP will attack Taiwan, many Taiwanese will vote to support DPP.

Many failed to see the actual problem which DPP is trying to ruin Taiwan.
